Eliseo Mercado

Eliseo R. Mercado (born May 29, 1948 in Bulacan ) or Pater Mercado / Father Mercado is a Filipino religious priest, Catholic missionary and university lecturer of the Oblates of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and an expert on Islam who is dedicated to the Christian-Islamic dialogue in the Philippines ( see main article Civil War in Mindanao ). He heads the Oblates ' Peace Ministry and Advocacy (OMI). He completed a degree in Islamic and Arabic Studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University and at the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (IDEO) in Cairo .

From 1992 to 2002 he was President of Notre Dame University of the Oblates in Cotabato City , Maguindanao , Philippines .

He started and moderated the online discussion group Kusogmindanaw (Kusog Mindanaw at Yahoo: kusogmindanaw@yahoogroups.com).
