Elizabeth Harrower (writer)

Elizabeth Harrower (born February 8, 1928 in Sydney ; † July 7, 2020 there ) was an Australian writer .

Life

Elizabeth Harrower grew up in Newcastle and from 1940 in Sydney, where she took up work as an office worker after graduating from school. From 1951 to 1959 she stayed in Scotland and London and intended to study psychology. Instead, she started working as a writer. She published four novels in the 1950s and 1960s. When her mother died, she abruptly ended her writing career. She was forgotten outside of literary studies until her novels were reprinted in 2012. In 2014 she published her last novel manuscript, which she had withdrawn from Macmillan in 1971 before publication , which received a lively response, and a compilation of published short stories and short stories was also printed in 2015.
