Elizabeth Harvey

Elizabeth Harvey (born 1957) is a British historian .

Studies and activities

Elizabeth Harvey studied history and received her PhD from the University of Oxford in 1987 . She then worked at the University of Salford and the University of Dundee . Until 2005 she worked as a senior lecturer at the University of Liverpool . Since then she has been a professor at the University of Nottingham . In 2004 and 2008 she was also visiting professor at the University of Vienna .

The historian researches and teaches on the topics of Germany in the 20th century, comparative cultural and social history of Europe in the 20th century with a focus on gender , nationalism , imperialism , youth and youth movement , war and reconstruction, comparative history of welfare and the history of visual studies .

Since April 2013, it is part of the Independent Commission of Historians to document the history of the Reich Labor Ministry in the era of National Socialism on. She is the chair of the German History Society .
