Career

Elize Maia played sporadically with various partners on the FIVB World Tour from 2008 to 2012 , but with little success. With Fernanda Berti Alves , she achieved numerous first and second places on the South America tour in 2013 and 2014. In the second half of 2014 Elize Maia was mainly on the side of Josemari Alves on national and South American tournaments.

From 2015 to 2016 Maia played alongside the 16-year-old Brazilian volleyball talent Eduarda Santos Lisboa ("Duda"). After a fifth place in Lucerne , the two Brazilians achieved their best result on the FIVB World Tour 2015 with third place at the Prague Open . At the first event of the 2015/16 tour, the Vallarta Open in Mexico , the two South Americans topped this result by reaching the final, which they lost to Ludwig / Walkenhorst . In February 2016 Elize Maia and Duda achieved their first victory on the FIVB World Tour at the Maceió Open in their homeland , which they could repeat in Fortaleza . The athletes achieved their best position in a Grand Slam in the same year in Moscow with fifth place. The following month they were able to surpass this result by reaching the semi-finals at the Olsztyn Grand Slam in Poland.

In 2017 Taiana Lima was her new partner. At the World Cup in Vienna , Elize Maia and Lima won their preliminary group and were only eliminated in the round of 16 against their compatriots Maria Antonelli / Carol . In 2018 Elize Maia played alongside Maria Clara Salgado . After a baby break, Elize Maia has been forming a new duo with Maria Antonelli since November 2019.
