Elke Back

Elke Back (born March 4, 1944 in Wiesbaden ) is a former German ballerina .

Life

Elke Back attended ballet school at the Wiesbaden State Theater at the age of eight . She passed her school leaving examination in Frankfurt / Main in 1961. After engagements in Esslingen, Hagen and Braunschweig, she advanced to prima ballerina in Linz (Austria) in 1964/65 . She then went on tours with the Berlin guest performance opera and the Budapest Operetta Theater . In 1966 engagements followed at the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth and the Nuremberg City Theater. She ended her career in Dortmund because her body could no longer withstand the constant excessive demands. She is married and lives in the Canary Islands.

Her autobiography - 1st class Tanzexpress - Journey through the life of a ballerina - was published in March 2011 by Projekt -Verlag Cornelius , Halle / Saale.
