Projects publishing house Cornelius

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Projekt-Verlag Cornelius GmbH was a German book publisher based in Lutherstadt Eisleben .

history

On October 28, 1990, the JUCO company was founded as a sports and culture publisher in Halle (Saale) . In December 1991 it became JUCO GmbH. Since 2000 she has appeared in various publications together with Projekt-Verlag 188 from Halle (Saale). Since 2007, both have operated under the name Projekt-Verlag Cornelius GmbH. The publisher was listed with wholesalers Koch, Neff and Volckmar (KNV), Libri and Umbreit .

Initially, regional and contemporary witness reports shaped the profile of both publishers. From 2000 non-fiction and fiction were added. In the non-fiction category, biographies of historical personalities, lexicons, philosophical writings as well as technical, historical and scientific treatises and reference works are published. In addition to novels, short stories and poetry, the range of fiction also included science fiction, children's books and travelogues. Contemporary publications are supplemented by a “Classical Series” in which writers such as Wilhelm Müller , Adelbert von Chamisso , Joseph von Eichendorff , Paul Fleming , Gottfried August Bürger , Gotthold Ephraim Lessing and Walter Bauer appeared.

The publisher's focus was on the editions Cornelius, Ammonit and Korit. In Edition Cornelius, authors from the last few decades have appeared with new works: Volker Braun , Róža Domašcyna , Barbara Schaeffer-Hegel , Rosemarie Fret , Christa and Gerhard Wolf . The Ammonit edition contained novels and eyewitness accounts by unknown authors. The books were based on historical events that had been documented. Templates were reports and chronicles, entries in registries and church books and personal experiences that were transformed into literary material. Edition Korit is dedicated to as yet unknown authors of entertainment and children's literature. The publisher oversaw a publishing program, the author's program, eyewitness reports and non-fiction books. Some of the books were also available as e-books.

A special feature of Projekt-Verlag Cornelius was the affiliated book factory in Halle, which had its roots in JUCO GmbH and, like the rest of the company, moved to Lutherstadt Eisleben in December 2013. The book factory was a digital printing and bookbinding (paperback and hardcover) that enabled book production in-house. In addition, she worked for other publishers, printing houses and private clients throughout Germany.

The publisher went out of business in 2014 following insolvency proceedings.

The publisher appeared, since it apparently also worked as a publication service provider and, to an unexplained extent, authors contributed to the costs of first editions, in several lists of so-called “printing cost subsidy publishers” circulating on the Internet, against which the publisher tried to defend itself in an open letter.
