Elke Stadeler

Elke Stadeler (* 1961 in Templin ) is a German local politician ( non-party ). Since May 6, 2010 she has been the mayor of Strausberg in Brandenburg .

Education and professional career

From 1977 to 1979 Stadeler completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at VEB Industrierohrleitungs-Montagen Berlin. From 1979 to 1990 she worked as a civilian employee of the National People's Army (NVA) in the finance department in the command of the air forces / air defense of the GDR in Strausberg. From 1984 to 1989 she did a part-time correspondence course to become a financial economist, which was recognized as a business economist (FH) after the fall of the Berlin Wall . From 1990 to 1991 she was employed in the finance department of the Fredersdorf municipal administration near Berlin . From 1991 to 2004 she was treasurer in the Strausberg city ​​administration . As a part-time job, she undertook an advanced training course for the senior service career from 1992 to 1993 . From 2004 to 2010, Stadeler was Head of Finance and Economics at Strausberg City Administration.

Political career

In the runoff election for mayor 2010, Elke Stadeler received 51.55 percent of the vote on March 21, 2010. In doing so, she prevailed against her predecessor, Hans Peter Thierfeld ( non-party ). Stadeler has been mayor of Strausberg since May 6, 2010.

In the 2018 mayor election, Stadeler was re-elected mayor in the runoff election on March 11, 2018 with 53.8 percent of the vote. The defeated challenger was Birgit Bärmann, Head of Technical Services at Strausberg City Administration.
