Elke Werner

Elke Werner (* 1956 in Duisburg as Elke Brands ) is a German evangelical theologian, teacher and writer .

Life

Elke Brands studied Protestant theology and art as a teacher . She is co-founder and from April 2011 to July 2017 was the overall director of the Christ Meeting in Marburg . She also works as an author and speaker. Her main focus is on lectures and the promotion of women, especially in Germany and other European countries.

From 2005 to 2007 Elke Werner was Deputy Director for Western Europe of the Lausanne International Committee for World Evangelization. Since 2006 she has been a Senior Associate for Women in the international Lausanne movement . As part of this work, she founded the “WINGS” network in 2007 - “Women's International Network in God's Service”. At the Lausanne Congress in Cape Town in October 2010, she gave a speech to over 4,000 delegates in which she pleaded for equal opportunities for women and men in leadership positions in the Church.

She is a member of the ProChrist evangelism team and has been a member of the Presidium of World Vision Germany since 2008 . She is also involved in the Zinzendorf Institute in Marburg.

Private

She has been married to the linguist and theologian Roland Werner since 1983 .
