Ella (rock musician)

Ella (born July 31, 1966 in Gelugor ; actually Norzila binti Haji Aminuddin ) is a Malaysian rock musician. Ella is a Muslim Malay , sings in the Malay language and is nicknamed Ratu Rock , the queen of rock music in Malaysia .

Life

Ella was born in Gelugor on the island of Penang and grew up in the Klang Valley (Greater Kuala Lumpur ) in the state of Selangor . Even as a schoolgirl, she often performed as a singer at school events. She graduated from Tunku Ampuan Rahimah girls' school in the Klang Valley and began performing in lounges and clubs in the greater Kuala Lumpur area. There she met her future band The Boys , with whom she formed the group Ella & The Boys .

After three successful years with Ella & The Boys , she decided to pursue a solo career. Their first album Penmegis Cinta immediately became a platinum album in Malaysia. In 1992 she was signed by EMI Malaysia . After further success, she went to the United States in 1994, where she recorded her album ELLA USA . This album became the best-selling album by a female artist in Malaysia with 350,000 copies.

In 1998 she was selected to sing the theme song of the Commonwealth Games in Malaysia with Standing In The Eyes Of The World . This song is included on an album of the same name. In 1999 she produced her ninth album with the support of Slash and Guns N 'Roses .

More successful albums followed.

Ella is also an entrepreneur. She founded Ella's Production , Ella Inc's Sdn Bhd ( GmbH ) and Syarikat Ombak Warna Sdn Bhd, among others . Today she mainly sells cosmetic products under her stage name ELLA .

Ella is a Muslim Malay, sings in the Malay language, appears in "Western" clothing and also reaches Chinese and Indian Malay people . She is a successful entrepreneur. This makes her an important figure to identify with for the Malaysian youth. Not least because of this, she fought violently against a video circulating on the Internet in 2007 that showed two women who look similar to her and her sister while a couple had sex with each other in the background.
