Ella Büchi

Ella Büchi (born February 25, 1929 in Zurich ; † December 5, 1999 there ) was a Swiss actress .

Life

According to her own statement, Ella Büchi came from a “very middle-class family”. Her only sister worked as a saleswoman, Ella Büchi graduated from an early age and learned English, French and Italian. At the age of 18 she went to the drama school in Zurich, which was directed by a student of the famous Russian theater man Konstantin Sergejewitsch Stanislavski . Büchi was brought to the Deutsche Schauspielhaus Hamburg by Gustaf Gründgens at the end of the 1950s , where she played almost all of the great classical roles in the youth field. Her best-known role was that of Gretchen in the staging of Faust by Gustaf Gründgens in 1957 , which she played alternately with the first cast Antje Weisgerber . Due to an illness of Antje Weisgerber, Ella Büchi also took on the role of Gretchen in the 1960 film adaptation of the Faust production alongside Will Quadflieg in the title role.

Until 1965 Ella Büchi also worked at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus as Putzi in Edward Albee's Who is Afraid of Virginia Woolf? As Emilia Galotti in Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's eponymous drama and as a secretary in John Osborne judge and judged to be seen. From 1965 she was engaged in the Josefstadt in Vienna , where she could be seen as Elisabeth in Schiller's Don Carlos .

In 1959 Ella Büchi married the German actor Richard Münch . In 1999 she succumbed to cancer. Her grave is in the Küsnacht-Hinterriet cemetery near Zurich.
