Ella Ballentine (born July 18, 2001 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian actress .

Life

Ballentine began her acting career in 2011 in the short film Words . In the 2013/14 season she was seen at the Princess of Wales Theater in Toronto in a production of the musical Les Misérables . This role brought her several nominations, including for the Young Artist Award for best young theater actress. Supporting roles in Canadian film and television productions followed. In 2015 she got the lead role of Anne Shirley in the literary film adaptation of Anne on Green Gables . This was followed by leading roles in the cinema productions Standoff alongside Laurence Fishburne and in the adventure film Little Heroes, Big Wilderness 2 - Serengeti Adventure , in which she plays a teenager who has to cross the African desert. In 2016 she starred alongside Zoe Kazan in a leading role in the horror film The Monster .
