Ellerbach is located three kilometers southeast of Holzheim in the Augsburg-Westliche Wälder nature park on the Mollenbach in the district of Dillingen an der Donau . The place had about 270 inhabitants in 2004.

history

Ellerbach was first mentioned in a document in 1278. Archaeological finds from the district indicate a settlement during the Mesolithic and in Celtic and Roman times. The document has the designation Herlrbahc for Ellerbach , later names are Elrbach, Erlbach, Erlebach and Erlnbach , so that it can be assumed that the name comes from a creek overgrown with alders .

Since January 1st, 1975 Ellerbach has been a part of the municipality of Holzheim .

  • Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul , a parish mentioned as early as 1333. The rebuilt nave and choir date from 1860. The tower itself is still a relic from the 14th and 15th centuries.
