location

The place is two kilometers southwest of Holzheim on a basin of the Weisinger Bach.

history

Altenbaindt was first mentioned in a document in 1345 as "Altenbiunt". Presumably it was laid out as an expansion settlement by instructions. Until 1345, the Lords of Burgau owned the manor in the village, which they sold to the Riederer family from Augsburg. In 1357 the manorial power came to the Katharinenkloster Augsburg . In the 15th century the monastery became the sole landlord and village lord in the village. In the course of secularization in 1802/03, Altenbaindt came to Bavaria and was assigned to the Dillingen district court on June 1, 1804 .

Religions

St. Stephen Church

Altenbaindt originally belonged to the original parish of Holzheim. In the 14th century, however, the place was already the seat of its own parish , to which parts of Weisingen (until 1810) also belonged. The tower of the Catholic parish church St. Stephan dates from the late Gothic period. In 1739 it was increased. In 1784 the nave and the choir were rebuilt.
