Elliott Highway

The Elliott Highway is a major road in the inland areas of Alaska , the km over a length of 245 the 17km north of Fairbanks location Fox with Manley Hot Springs on the Tanana River connects. The highway was completed in 1959 and is part of Alaska Route 2 .

The road is paved between the junction of the Steese Highway at Fox and the junction with the Dalton Highway and is drivable all year round, the last 130 km to Manley Hot Springs are gravel. There are no gas stations and no cellular network along the highway. Travelers are encouraged to check the state of the road from a state hotline.

Towns on the highway are Livengood , an old mining settlement with 29 inhabitants, after 114 km and Minto after 177 km. The highway was named after Malcolm Elliot, chairman of the Alaska Road Commission from 1927 to 1932.
