The Ellis River is a left tributary of the Saco River in the US state of New Hampshire .
The Ellis River rises on the north east flank of Mount Washington in the White Mountains . It flows east to Pinkham Notch . Cutler River and New River flow into the river on the right. It overcomes the Crystal Cascades between the confluences of the two rivers . Below Pinkham Notch are the Glen Ellis Falls on the river. From Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire Route 16 follows the south-flowing Ellis River. At Jackson , the Wildcat Brook flows into the river on the left. After another 6 km, the Ellis River meets the Saco River, which flows westward. The Ellis River has a length of 17 miles.
A 10 km stretch of river above the Jackson golf course is suitable for whitewater canoeists and kayakers . The level of difficulty is III – IV.
Covered bridges
In Jackson, the covered bridge Honeymoon Bridge (also Jackson-Honeymoon Covered Bridge ) spans the river immediately after the confluence of the Wildcat Brook.
