Elly Linden

Elly Linden (born April 25, 1895 in Plaue / Thuringia ; † January 23, 1987 in Lübeck , born Elly Brodführer ) was a German SPD politician .

Life and work

After attending the upper lyceum, Elly Linden trained as a primary school teacher and later studied history, geography and pedagogy alongside her teaching activities. Subsequently, a doctorate for Dr. phil. After further studies in economics and business administration , she acquired the title of qualified commercial teacher and taught at vocational schools.

Elly Linden, who was of Protestant Lutheran faith, married Wilhelm Linden, a student from Offenbach in August 1925, who had been teaching at the Lübeck commercial school since 1922. Elly Linden remained childless; her husband brought a son from their first marriage, born in 1914, into the marriage. Wilhelm Linden died in 1950 at the age of 63.

Elly Linden had been a member of the SPD since 1927.

MPs

Elly Linden was a member of the state parliament in Schleswig-Holstein from 1947 to 1967 . She represented the constituency of Lübeck- Nord in parliament. From May 30, 1949 until the end of the first legislative period in 1950, she was chairman of the state parliament's committee for popular education. From 1954 to 1962 she was a member of the SPD parliamentary committee.

The state parliament sent Elly Linden to the first Federal Assembly , which elected Theodor Heuss as the first German Federal President on September 12, 1949 .

Public offices

From April 1, 1949 to September 5, 1950, Elly Linden was parliamentary representative of the Minister for Popular Education in Schleswig-Holstein.

Honors

On November 5, 1965, Elly Linden was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class.
