Elmar Haardt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elmar Haardt (* 1974 in Essen ) is a German artist . In his artistic work he deals with the conditions of human existence.

Biographical

Haardt studied empirical cultural studies and American studies at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (1996–1998) and European ethnology, sociology and philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin (1998–2003). This was followed by studying photography with Wiebke Loeper and Jörn Vanhöfen in Berlin until 2006.

Land of Dreams

Haardt's main work is the Land of Dreams series . The work currently consists of 40 large-format photographs 200 x 250. Many of the pictures have already been sold to Elmar Haardt's greatest collector and patron in London. As a result, the works still for sale have increased in value enormously and cost from € 100,000.

Haardt images are created using a special technique: He puts his pictures of four to six 8 x 10 inch large slides together a slide case has a size corresponding to A4 . These slides are then scanned and the image is then put together in Photoshop . The larger the format of the negative / slide, the calmer the image, the world in front of the camera seems to come to a standstill. In addition, Haardt can set several levels of focus so that the foreground, the middle and the background are sharp. There are several exposure levels at the same time, so that all areas of the image are optimally exposed. Then they are exposed in a special laboratory in Düsseldorf by image editors together with Haardt over several days.
