Elmar Wadle

Elmar Wadle (born August 24, 1938 in Pirmasens ) is a German legal scholar and legal historian as well as a judge at the Constitutional Court of Saarland .

Life

Wadle studied from 1957 law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München . After completing his first state examination (1961) and his second state examination (1967), he was in 1973 with a thesis on the constitutional history of the 12th century (III imperial and royal rule under Lothar.) In Heidelberg at Siegfried Reicke and Gotz Landwehr to Dr. iur. utr. PhD . In 1974 he qualified as a professor in Heidelberg with Adolf Laufs and Wolfgang Hefermehl with the script Trademarks and Trademarks . He was initially a private lecturer in Heidelberg, from 1975 scientific advisor and professor at Bielefeld University .

Wadley in 1978 received a call to the chair of German legal history and Civil Law of the University of Saarland . From 1987 to 1988 he was dean of the Faculty of Law and Economics. As an emeritus (since 2006) he continues to work in the research center for the history of intellectual property in Saarbrücken.

He has been a judge since 1989 and vice-president of the Constitutional Court of Saarland from 1995 to 2008 .

Act

The main research interests of Wadle are in particular the law of God and civil peace in the Middle Ages, the emergence of medieval criminal law in the 11th to 15th centuries, intellectual property law , copyright and trademark law in the period from the 18th century to the present day and French law in Germany in the 19th and 20th centuries. He has published numerous scientific papers and articles; He is co-editor of the Savigny Foundation's journal for legal history and several other scholarly publications.

Wadle is a member of the Catholic student union KDStV Arminia Heidelberg in the CV and at times (1988-93) its chairman (old gentleman).
