Elmer City was officially recognized as a local authority on April 17, 1947 and is located within the Colville Indian Reservation .

2010 Census
As of the 2010 census , there were 238 residents, 99 households and 64 families in Elmer City. The population density was 437.6 per km ². There were 112 housing units at a mean density of 205.9 per km².
The population consisted of 47.9% whites , 0.8% African American , 28.6% Indian , 2.1% Asian , 2.1% other "races" and 18.5 % % from two or more "races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 3.4% of the population.
Of the 99 households, 24.2% were housed by children under the age of 18, 44.4% were run by married couples living together , 14.1% by single mothers and 6.1% by single fathers; 35.4% were non-families. 28.3% of the households were singles and 10.2% were single people over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.4 and the average family size was 2.92.
The median age in the city was 47.8 years. 18.5% of the population were under 18, 9.6% between 18 and 24, 18.8% between 25 and 44, 29.9% between 45 and 64 and 23.1 65 years or older. 48.3% of the population were men and 51.7% women.

Of the 110 households, 23.6% had children under the age of 18, 47.3% were run by married couples living together , 13.6% by single mothers; 35.5% were non-families. 33.6% of the households were singles and 10% were single people over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 3.06.
The median age in the city was 43 years. 25.8% of the population were under 18, 5.2% between 18 and 24, 23.2% between 25 and 44, 30.7% between 45 and 64 and 15, 65 years or older. There were 103.8 men for every 100 women, and 98 men for 100 women for over 18-year-olds.
