AB Elnias (dt. ' Waldren ') was a leather factory and shoe manufacturer in the Lithuanian city of Šiauliai .
history
In 1877 a leather factory was built by the entrepreneur Chaim Frenkel (1857–1920), which was bombed and burned out during World War II. In 1946 this factory merged with another to form the "Elnias" combine . In 1960 the colliery in Kėdainiai, founded a year earlier, and in 1975 the Mažeikiai factory (founded in 1945) were added. In 1974 a gamybinis susivienijimas "Elnias" was built in what was then Soviet Lithuania . Two years later, Elnias was producing 2.9 million pairs of shoes worth 37.3 million rubles . From November 15, 1990 to December 1, 1992 there was the post-Soviet state enterprise Odos ir avalynės valstybinė įmonė "Elnias" .
Until January 20, 1995 the company had its own holiday camp "Elnias" ("Elnio" odos ir avalynės valstybinės įmonės poilsio stovykla "Elnias") in the spa town of Palanga on the Baltic Sea . From August 19, 1992 to October 16, 2013 the company AB was called "Elnias". Until 2000, Adidas was a partner of "Elnias". In 1999 "Adidas" ordered 400,000 pairs of shoes. From 27 August 1996 to 22 March 2002, "Elnias" the daughter trading company UAB "Elnio" batas ". In July 1998, insolvency proceedings were opened.
