Elpidius white goose
Elpidius Weiergans OFM (born January 18, 1873 in Cologne as Wilhelm Weiergans ; † October 31, 1946 in Neviges , today the city of Velbert ) was a German Franciscan priest and author who was involved with the Kreuzbund .
Life
Weiergans joined the Franciscan order on April 27, 1892 in the Franciscan order school in Harreveld near Lichtenvoorde ( Netherlands ) and was given the name "Elpidius". After he be on April 30, 1893 vows had taken, he received in the July 27, 1900 Paderborn the priesthood . In 1905 he began his sermons for the Kreuzbund and against alcoholism , he also wrote writings and made numerous lecture tours.
From 1925 to 1929 he lived in the Franciscan monastery Mönchengladbach , then in the Franciscan monastery Hardenberg-Neviges. It was there that his autobiography was written, which could not appear until 1946, as the National Socialists had banned him from writing.
