Peter Schmidt-Eppendorf (born October 17, 1931 as Peter Schmidt in Hamburg-Eppendorf ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and author .

Life

He attended the Catholic elementary school St. Antonius in Winterhude . At the advanced school , today's Friedrich-Spee-Gymnasium in Rüthen / Möhne (1947-1952) he passed the Abitur . From 1952 to 1957 he studied at the PTH Sankt Georgen and at the Osnabrück seminary in 1957. On June 29, 1959, Auxiliary Bishop Johannes von Rudloff ordained him as a priest in the chapel of the Adolfstift in Reinbek . From 1959 to 1972 he was chaplain in Dalum , Voxtrup , Ahrensburg and Westerland . He was pastor on Nordstrand from 1972 to 1999 . In addition, he was dean of the Flensburg Dean's Office from 1977 to 1989 and a member of the NDR Broadcasting Council from 1986 to 1991 . In 1984 he founded the Association for Catholic Church History in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, of which he is honorary chairman to this day. John Paul II appointed him chaplain to His Holiness in 1990 . Heide Simonis awarded him the Schleswig-Holstein Medal in 1998 . In retirement since October 1st, 1999 he works in the archives of the Archbishop's General Vicariate Hamburg and in adult education.
