Els Banys de Sant Vicenç is a small place (Nucli de població) in the parish of El Pont de Bar in the province of Lleida in the high mountain region of the Pyrenees in Catalonia . The houses and bathing facilities are located together with the Mare de Déu del Remei chapel on the right bank of the Riu Segre .
history
The thermal springs near the mountainous state of Andorra had been known since the 10th century and, according to historical records from 1775, belonged to the Andorran Pal family. Some sources are already mentioned in the documents from 965.
Bartomeu Pal bought the place and the thermal springs in 1775 and built the first bathing facility (Banys). In 1870 Antoni Pal y Solé built the first hotel with a thermal bath. In 1936, at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War , the building was confiscated and used as a hospital. After the war, the Pal family resumed the hotel business, restored it to its original state and expanded the complex into a spa hotel . The buildings of the Banys de Sant Vicenç on Carretera N-260 (road from Sant Vincent to La Seu d'Urgell ) were registered under IPA-Nº 37506 as an architectural heritage in the Inventari del Patrimoni Arquitectònic de Catalunya register.
According to Ajuntament del Pont de Bar , five residents are registered in the place (as of 2013).

The 17th century Capella de Sant Vicenç , dedicated to the Mare de Déu del Remei , has been a protected cultural monument in Catalonia since 2003.
The Sant Vicenç baths are known for curing rheumatism and skin diseases. The thermal water with a temperature of 42 ° C contains sulfur and hydrogen carbonate.
