Elsa Kremser (* 1985 Wolfsberg in Carinthia ) is an Austrian film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Elsa Kremser studied theater, film and media studies at the University of Vienna . During her second degree at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy , she made several documentaries as a writer and producer that were shown at film festivals around the world. Her diploma film Nebel received an honorable mention from the Berlinale Perspektive. She was part of the jury of the Visions du Réel film festival and completed the Nipkow and EuroDoc programs. In 2016 she founded the “Raumzeitfilm Produktion” in Vienna with Levin Peter . Her first film as a directing duo, Space Dogs , premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2019 and screened at over 50 film festivals worldwide. At the Viennale 2019 the film was awarded the Vienna Film Prize as the best Austrian film and also received the Erste Bank MehrWERT Film Prize. Together with Levin Peter, Kremser worked on her first feature film (The Green Budgie) , which received the Berlinale Kompagnon Screenplay Award.
