Else Liebesberg

Else Liebesberg (born October 3, 1918 in Vienna ; † January 9, 1996 there ) was an Austrian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

She attended the college for women's trade, after which she studied for six years at the Academy for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In 1946 she won first prize in a singing competition in Geneva . In the same year she made her debut at the Vienna State Opera as Page Oscar in Un ballo in maschera .

After a few years she moved to the Vienna Volksoper , to which she stayed until her stage farewell in 1973. She has taken on numerous roles in operas and operettas, including Cherubino and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro , Papagena in Die Zauberflöte , Marzelline in Fidelio , Ännchen in Der Freischütz , Marie in Zar and Zimmermann , Gretchen in Der Wildschütz , Wellgunde in Der Ring des Nibelungen , Gretel in Hansel and Gretel , Rosina in Der Barbier von Sevilla , Adele in Die Fledermaus , Arsena in Der Zigeunerbaron , Pepi in Wiener Blut , Bronislawa in Der Bettelstudent and Christel in Der Vogelhandler .

In 1955 she appeared at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and in 1968 at the Opera of Rome . As a concert singer she performed in the music centers of Europe. She was also known under the names Else Bauer-Liebesberg and Else Liebesberg-Hannes .

She took part in the feature film King of the Manege in 1954. In the film biography Mozart from 1955 she can be seen as Papagena in a performance of the Magic Flute .
