The Elva River ( Estonian Elva jõgi ) is a river in Estonia .

It is a tributary of the Emajõgi (German name: Embach ).

The Elva River has its source near Lake Valgjärv in Põlva County . Its length is 72 km, its catchment area 456 km². The river has a gradient of 144.3 m on its way.

The Elva River is particularly known for its partly historic mills , for example in Palu, Hellenurme, Rundsu, Peedu, Voika and Tõravere. It is also popular with anglers for its wealth of brown trout .

Right tributaries are the streams Kinsli oja, Tinni oja, Laguja oja, Illi oja, Peedu oja, Nõo oja, Keeri oja and Rõhu oja. Left tributaries are the streams Kastolatsi oja, Kaarnaoja, Karjamõisa oja, Hellenurme oja, Pulga oja, Karioja and Kureküla oja.
