Elvana Gjata [ elvana ɟata ] (born February 3, 1987 in Tirana ) is a singer , songwriter , dancer and model from Albania . With her R&B- like music she shapes a whole generation of young Albanian singers. She has already received a number of prizes and awards.

Life

Elvana went to Partizan Middle School in the Albanian capital Tirana . Her sister Migena, who is also a singer, recognized Elvana's talent for singing early on. Her father Fatmir supports his two daughters very much in their careers. He is an officer in the Albanian army .

Elvana's career as a singer started very early. In 2001 she took third place at the Children's Song Festival Festivali i zërave të rinj with the song Të këndojmë së bashku (Let's Sing Together) . This award motivated her to keep going. So she took part in the spectacle Kërkohet një yll , where she interpreted Laura Pausini's songs.

Supported by her father, Elvana took part in the first episode of the TV spectacle Ethet e së premtes mbrëma of Albania's public broadcaster RTSH , where she was among the ten best participants and made it into the final. The festival paved the way for her career. In just one night, Gjata sang herself into the hearts of the audience and became a celebrity.

After the spectacle, she sang a duet at the national folklore event of TV Klan Maratona e këngës popullore dhe qytetare with the band The Dreams . On this occasion, the duet made it to the finals. It was then that the public discovered Elvana's talent for singing folk songs .

In 2006 Elvana took part in the popular Kënga Magjike festival, where she landed in the top five with her self-composed song Vetëm zoti e di (Only God knows) . The song was a collaboration with producers Flori Mumajesi and Andy DJ , manager of Radio Energy in Tirana, where all of their previous songs were recorded.

In 2008 her first album Mamës was released with the single of the same name coupled from it. Another huge hit was Të dy (Both) , also released in 2008. Elvana Gjata owes its popularity in the Albanian music scene to these two songs in particular.

On June 16, 2008 Vetës , the first single from the new album Afër & Larg (Nah und Fern) was released.

In 2009 Elvana released two clips through Entermedia Productions Prishtina : Nuk Janë Më (You are no longer) with R&B-like musical trains and HiTech with Future Pop influences. The first had little success, while the second rose to become a big summer hit. At the end of the summer of 2009, the singer released her third single that year, Turn U On , which was in the Albanian charts for weeks. At the Balkan Music Awards , which took place in Sofia for the first time in 2010 , the single came third among the best songs from Albania.

In the tenth episode of Kënga Magjike , she appeared with Dhe zemra ndal (And the heart stops beating) in 2009 and made it to second place.

In 2010 Elvana Gjata appeared in the music industry with Mamani nejën (feat. Fugaa ) and A Ke Ti Zemër (Do you have a heart) . Thanks to Mamani nejën , the formerly lesser-known Kosovar rapper Fugaa achieved great fame himself.

Elvana Gjata took part in Top Fest 8 in June 2011 with the ballad-like single Me Ty (Mit dir) and was able to win the highest award for best actress. At the end of the month Kudo që jam (No matter where I am) was released , another co-production with Flori Mumajesi , and Afër dhe larg (Near and Far) , which, along with Të Dy and Mamës, are among Elvana Gjata's greatest hits. Afër dhe larg was also nominated as one of five Albanian entries for the 2012 Balkan Music Awards, which took place on June 16, 2012.

In August 2011 she released the name of her second album: Afër & Larg (Nah und Fern) ; but some of the linked singles appeared in 2009, as already mentioned.

On April 28, 2012 Elvana Gjata became known with the video clip for her song Gjaku im (My Blood) . The song was written on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Albania's independence in 2012. It is about the oppression and discrimination of the Albanians throughout their history , but also about hope and a better future. Especially with patriots, Gjata was able to record great success with Gjaku . According to Elvana Gjata, blood really flowed while filming the video. The song has pop-rock- like musical features. Her last single Love Me and her song for Albania were in the top 1 of the charts in Kosovo and Albania for months.

After a first appearance in 2003, she again took part in the Festivali i Këngës 2019 ; with the song Me tana she took second place behind Arilena Ara . The result sparked controversy as many saw Elvana Gjata as the real winner.
