Elvis Forde

Elvis Forde (born November 18, 1959 in Saint Andrew , Barbados ) is a former Barbadian athlete . With the 4 x 400 meter relay from Barbados , he finished sixth at the 1984 Olympic Games .

Forde studied at Murray State University and Southern Illinois University in the United States . During his studies he was part of the athletics selection at his university, and in 1995 he was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame at Southern Illinois. Forde won four NCAA titles and set a US college record in the Southern Illinois season in 3: 00.78 minutes.

Internationally, Forde competed for his home country Barbados. At the Olympic Games in 1984 he reached the semifinals in the 400-meter run and was sixth there in 45.32 seconds. The 4 x 400 meter relay with the cast Richard Louis , David Peltier , Clyde Edwards and Elvis Forde reached the final and took sixth place there.

Forde won bronze medals at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 1985 and 1986 before winning gold in 1987. In between, Forde reached the semi-finals of the 1987 World Indoor Championships . Outdoors at the 1987 World Championships , Forde was eliminated in the quarterfinals. Also at the Olympic Games in 1988 he was eliminated in the quarter-finals, with the season Forde barely missed the finals as fifth in the semifinals.

After retiring from his career, Forde worked as a track and field coach at Austin Peay State University from 1989 to 2002 , and has been head coach at Illinois State University since 2002 .

Elvis Forde had a competition weight of 74 kg with a height of 1.80 m. He is married and has two children.
