Elyjah was a post-rock band from Berlin .
history
Founded in Berlin in autumn 2003, the band initially worked purely instrumentally. “The first tracks are filigree, fanned out with a demanding rhythm and with powerful riffs and bursts of noise”.
In 2006 Elyjah's first release was a split EP with the Viennese post-rock collective Thalija on the Austrian label Siluh Records . Also in 2006, the band wrote the soundtrack for the animated film Der Selfsuchtige Giese by Steffen Kreft.
In the following three years Elyjah devoted herself to work on her debut album Planet, Planet , which was released on November 20, 2009 via the Klimbim Records label founded by the band members . The lyrics were created in collaboration with the musician and lyricist Robin tom Rink . The debut was received positively, although there was no support from a renowned label. Planet, Planet landed in Visions in the soundcheck of issue # 201 at number 3, and in the annual poll of issue # 202 at number 2 in the Postrock Charts.
The elaborately designed artwork for Planet, Planet by the Berlin designers Stefan Guzy and Björn Wiede won silver and gold at the 89th Annual Award of the Art Directors Club New York in the category “Best Package Design” at the European Design Award 2010 in the category “Packaging | CD / DVD cover ".
The band contributed a few songs to the TV film Das Wunder von Berlin from 2008 and also appeared in the opening scene as a punk band .
In November 2012 Elyjah announced the breakup of the band.
