Robin tom rink

Robin tom Rink (born January 19, 1982 in Münster ) is a German musician and poet.

history

After graduating from high school, Robin tom Rink left his hometown Münster and moved to Berlin. There he gained his first experiences as a musician and lyricist. In 2007 he moved to Paris where he wrote his first critically acclaimed album The Dilettante , which was released in June 2009. For example, Rolling Stone wrote about a "fabulous, instantly touching debut".

He then played tours and concerts with Heather Nova , Scott Matthew , Drag The River, Chris Wollard ( Hot Water Music ) and The Ship Thieves, Eleni Mandell and Nigel Harrison ( Blondie ), among others .

Robin tom Rink also writes lyrics for other bands. For example he wrote some lyrics for the album Planet Planet by the Berlin band Elyjah . This album landed at number 3 in the soundcheck of issue # 201 in Visions , and at number 2 in the postrock charts in the annual poll of issue # 202. The elaborately designed artwork for Planet Planet won silver at the 89th Annual Award of the Art Directors Club New York in the “Best Package Design” category and gold at the European Design Award 2010 in the “Packaging / CD / DVD Cover” category.

In 2010 he was invited to the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in Groningen.

At the end of 2016 his texts appeared in the ten-volume lyric series of Edition Yara from Vienna, edited by Bernadette Schiefer .

In January 2017 the album The Small Hours , which was produced by Ekimas , was released. To play on the album a. Ekki Maas, Christian Wübben (both Erdmöbel) and Peter Protschka . It was used by the music press, e.g. B. Rolling Stone or Visions , discussed positively, but also from other national media such as Stern.de , Focus and MDR Kultur .

In August 2019 he played at the invitation of the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

His music has often been compared to that of Tom Waits , Leonard Cohen or Jacques Brel .

Robin tom Rink is married and lives with his wife in Cologne.
