Emanuel Benito Rivas (born March 17, 1983 in Quilmes ) is an Argentine football player . He has been without a club since 2015.
Career
Emanuel Rivas began his career in his home country with CA Independiente , for which he played for three years in the Primera División , the highest Argentine league. In the summer of 2004 he moved to the league rivals Arsenal de Sarandí . He made 26 games for the team and transferred a year later to the Portuguese club Vitória Guimarães . Rivas appeared in five games for Guimarães in the SuperLiga , but could never prevail there. In July 2006 he was awarded to Iraklis Thessaloniki in Greece until the end of the season . With the Greeks he was part of the regular formation, but Iraklis decided not to take up the purchase option. Then CA Talleres bought him and the midfielder returned to Argentina.
After eleven games for Talleres, the Italian club AC Arezzo took him under contract in January 2008 . The Tuscans were also guaranteed a purchase option. After Rivas showed very good performances in Arezzo, the club waived a permanent commitment of the Argentine due to the high transfer fee. He was signed by AS Bari shortly afterwards . The Apuliern he has already established itself in the 2008-09 season and received regular appearances in the Serie B , also was the end of season promotion to the highest Italian league, the Serie A , will be ensured.
In the winter of 2012 he moved from Bari to AS Varese for half a year before joining league rivals Hellas Verona in the summer of that year . In 2013 he moved to Spezia Calcio , and in 2014 back to AS Varese. In spring 2015 he played again for Livorno before his contract expired. Since then he has been without a club.
In 2003 Rivas won the Campeonato Sudamericano Sub-20 with the Argentine U-20 selection , but was not part of the squad at the subsequent Junior World Cup .
