Emanuel Senft

Emanuel Senft (born July 3, 1870 in Chotěboř , Bohemia , † July 22, 1922 in Prague , Czechoslovakia ) was an Austrian and Czech pharmacist.

Life

The pharmacist's son attended high schools in Deutschbrod and Czaslau . From 1886 he first worked in his father's pharmacy. In 1889 Senft began studying pharmacy at Charles University in Prague , which he graduated in 1891 with a master's degree in pharmacy. After working as a pharmacist in Bohemia and Moravia, he became a medicament advisor in Budapest in 1906 . Senft also studied philosophy for four semesters at the University of Vienna . In 1909 he moved to the chemical laboratory of the military medical medical committee in Vienna as a private assistant to Florian Kratschmer von Forstburg . During this time he worked as a lecturer at the military medical application school and gave formulation courses. In 1909 he was transferred to Prague , where the following year he was appointed country consultant for medicinal plant cultures in Bohemia. From 1911 Senft worked as a lecturer in technology at the Charles University and was appointed to the committee for state promotion of medicinal plant culture in Austria. In 1913 he became chief inspector of the agricultural and chemical research institute in Vienna. At the same time he was in charge of the State Medicinal Plant Cultivation in Korneuburg until 1918 and was a member of the Central Medicines Agency. In the meantime, Senft worked in Prague as a drug officer in Prague during the First World War. After the establishment of Czechoslovakia , he moved to the Czechoslovak Ministry of Health as a councilor. In 1920 he was given a leave of absence from work in the rank of ministerial councilor due to illness.

Act

Senft carried out studies on the acclimatization of soy and hydrastis and was particularly concerned with the cultivation of medicinal plants. In 1897 he took part in the 2nd International Pharmaceutical Exhibition in Prague and in 1913 in Vienna in the 3rd International Pharmaceutical Exhibition. His research results, which in addition to pharmacy also concerned topics of chemistry, botany, lichenology, pharmacognosy and medical diagnostics, he published in around 100 papers.
