Emanuel Vogt (composer)

Emanuel Vogt (born March 17, 1925 in Schwabach ; † April 9, 2007 in Windsbach ) was a German church music director , composer and city and district choirmaster .

Live and act

Emanuel Vogt's musical talent was recognized early on, after which he began training with Oskar Stollberg in Schwabach near Nuremberg. From 1941/1942 he took up musical studies in Berlin: composition with Ernst Pepping , choir direction with Gottfried Grote and organ with Herbert Schulze .

After his musical training, he initially took on a position as a part-time organist and choir director in Thurnau . He continued his organ studies at the church music school in Bayreuth and in 1956 moved to Forchheim as cantor and organist . In 1961 he was appointed to the office of city and district choirmaster in Windsbach , where he held the title of church music director until his retirement in 1989.

As part of his compositional work, he created numerous works for organ, wind instruments, choirs and mixed ensembles. His contact with the Windsbach boys' choir under Hans Thamm and his successor Karl-Friedrich Beringer led to numerous performances of his compositions and publications on records and CDs. He was also a member of a team of composers for the Breitkopf & Härtel publishing house in Wiesbaden, who published the four-volume organ book In Ewigkeit Dich loben .

Vogt died at the age of 82 and was buried in the Windsbach cemetery.
