Emil Georgiev

Emil Ivanov Georgiev ( Bulgarian Емил Иванов Георгиев , born January 10, 1910 in Shumen ; † May 1, 1982 ) was a Bulgarian literary historian .

Life

He studied in Sofia , Prague and Vienna . From 1947 to 1976 he was a professor at Sofia University. From 1977 he was a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .

In his academic work he dealt with comparative literature , Slavic palaeography , the history of Old Bulgarian literature, the literature of the Bulgarian Revival and the history of Slavic literatures.

Georgiev was awarded the Dimitrov Prize.
