VB Series 2001/02
The VB Series 2001/02 was a three-nation tournament that was held from January 11 to February 8, 2002 in Australia in one-day cricket . In the tournament, which was part of the 2001/02 international cricket season, teams from New Zealand and South Africa took part alongside the host . In the final South Africa was able to prevail with 2–0 games against New Zealand.
prehistory
Australia and South Africa previously played a test series , which Australia won 3-0. New Zealand previously played a tour against Bangladesh .
format
In a preliminary round, each team played against each other once. There were four points for a win, two points for a draw or no result. Bonus points were also awarded. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played for the tournament victory.
