Emil Gette
Emil Gette (* 1840 in Freienwalde ; † 1887 ) was a German architect who worked primarily in Potsdam and Berlin .
Life
Emil Gette was the son of the castellan of Schloss Freienwalde . After studying at the Berlin Bauakademie , which he completed with the construction manager examination, in 1867/1868 he worked for Hermann Blankenstein in the construction management for the renovation of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, took the master builder examination until 1869, and became a district construction inspector in Potsdam and finally building officer.
In the 1880s, some buildings in the neo-renaissance and especially the neo-Gothic style based on Gette's designs were built in Potsdam and the surrounding area . The neo-Gothic churches of Gettes followed models of the Brandenburg brick Gothic . The style of the extension of the village church in oak adapts to the late Baroque original building built in 1771 based on designs by Georg Christian Unger .
Designs for furniture have also come down to us from Gette.
