Emil Hölck

Gottfried Emil Hölck (born February 12, 1835 in Wilster , † June 4, 1916 in Kiel ) was a German farmer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of a senator, Hölck studied law in Jena , Heidelberg , Kiel and Berlin after attending grammar school in Glückstadt . During his studies in 1853 he became a member of the Jena fraternity in the castle cellar . In 1855 he was a founding member of the Teutonia fraternity in Kiel , but resigned there in 1856 because of their progressist orientation. After his studies he worked as a farmer from 1856 and in 1865 acquired the aristocratic Muggesfelde estate in the Segeberg district . From 1874 to 1895 he was a member of the Provincial Landtag Schleswig-Holstein for the National Liberal Party , where he was a member of the Provincial Committee from 1889. In 1891 he sold his estate and moved to Kiel. He was involved in numerous associations, among other things, he was a co-founder and until 1902 president of the agricultural cooperative association, the Raiffeisen main cooperative, after which he became honorary chairman. In 1893 he was a member of the German Agriculture Council in Berlin. He was also involved in the founding of the Schleswig-Holsteinische Landesgenossenschaftsbank and from 1895 to 1916 its chairman of the supervisory board . He also chaired the supervisory board from 1898 to 1914 in the main Schleswig-Holstein cooperative. In 1898 he became a state economics councilor. He was also a member of the general synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Consortium of the Province of Schleswig-Holstein. Most recently he lived as a privateer in Kiel.
