Emil Handschin (born March 19, 1928 in Basel ; † May 27, 1990 there ) was a Swiss ice hockey player . He played as a defender. He completed a total of 133 international matches for Switzerland at the Olympics (1948, 1952 and 1956) and World and European Championships (1950, 1951, 1953). At the 1948 Olympic Games in St. Moritz , he won the bronze medal with Switzerland.
Handschin began his career at SC Bern , where he played for a short time in 1945 before moving to HC Davos . From 1946 until the end of his career in 1961, he played at EHC Basel , where he achieved legendary status.
Handschin founded his own sanitary company , Emil Handschin AG , in 1962 . He died in Basel in 1990.
