Heinrich Emil Kaim (born January 23, 1871 in Schelklingen , † May 9, 1949 in Untermarchtal ) was a Catholic priest, cathedral chapter , central politician and member of the Württemberg state parliament.

Life

Kaim was the son of the school teacher in Schelklingen Heinrich Kaim (1834–1878) and his wife Emilie Scheitenberger (1842–1932), a daughter of the long-time city schoolteacher of Schelklingen Philipp Scheitenberger . His grandfather Heinrich Kaim (1792–1874) was a model teacher in Schelklingen and founder of the local song wreath . Adolf , a brother of Emil Kaim, also became a teacher and also worked in Biberach as a composer and musician. Emil Kaim grew up in an educated family that developed strong musical inclinations.

Emil Kaim studied Catholic theology at the University of Tübingen from 1889 to 1893 and was a pupil of the Wilhelmsstift . After completing his studies, he received ordination on July 17, 1894, and then obtained his doctorate as Dr. theol., was vicar in Stuttgart from 1894 to 1900 , and chaplain in Rottenburg from 1900 to 1908 . He took up his first permanent position in July 1908 as the town pastor in Cannstatt, where he stayed until September 1927. Subsequently, from September 17, 1927 Kaim worked as cathedral chapter in Rottenburg. After his retirement on June 1, 1941, he retired to the Untermarchtal monastery , where he died on May 9, 1949.

Emil Kaim was politically active as a member of the Catholic Center Party and member of the Württemberg state parliament from 1928 to July 18, 1933, when he had to renounce his mandate under the Reich Concordat.

Emil Kaim was also active as a writer and wrote a number of theological works, including a multi-volume collection of sermons.
