Emil Lehnen

Emil Lehnen (born August 3, 1915 in Differten ; † June 26, 1984 in Saarbrücken ) was a Saarland politician ( CVP / CDU ).

After elementary school, Lehnen attended a Catholic boarding school. From 1930 to 1933 he completed an administrative apprenticeship at the Saarlouis district office , where he was subsequently hired. In 1935/36 he did his labor service , from 1937 to 1939 he did his military service. From 1940 he attended the administrative and district savings bank school in Saarbrücken and passed the administrative examination I in the following year. He was then called up for military service and served as a soldier until 1945.

He joined the Christian People's Party of the Saarland (CVP) in 1946 and became its general secretary in the same year. From 1949 to 1956 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Union of Young Christian Democrats in Europe . In 1952 he was elected to the Saarland state parliament, to which he belonged until 1961 (from 1959 as a member of the CDU parliamentary group). Most recently, he was deputy chairman of the committee on reunification and border issues and secretary of the committee on cultural policy.

Among other things, Lehnen volunteered in the Friends of the RSO Saarbrücken , of which he was a member of the board from its foundation in 1979 until his death.
