Act

Not least because of the influence of Hufeland, Osann as a scientist was primarily concerned with the effects of healing springs . In 1822 he published a work on the mineral springs at Kaiser Franzensbad near Eger , for which the Austrian emperor awarded him the great gold medal of honor. His main work was the physical and medical presentation of the well-known healing springs of the most excellent countries in Europe , which is considered the first comprehensive work of balneology. It was laid out in three volumes, although Osann was only able to complete the first two about the German spas by the time he died. Since 1837 he was the sole editor of the Journal of Practical Medicine .

Osann got involved with his wife in numerous social projects and supported sick Berlin citizens.
