Emil Rausch (theologian)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Emil Rausch (born September 7, 1807 in Kassel , † September 28, 1884 in Rengshausen ) was a German Protestant theologian in Hesse.

Life

After studying theology in Marburg , Halle and Berlin, Rausch became a pastor at the Untereustädter Church in Kassel in 1832 . He was forcibly transferred to Rengshausen by the consistory in Kassel in 1839 because of his pietistic convictions , which was evident in his work in the revival movement and as a founding member of a mission association founded in Kassel in 1833 . There he took special care of neglected children and young people and founded the Beiserhaus in 1844 as a rescue house for neglected children.

In the disputes about the church structure under Prussian suzerainty, Rausch, as a supporter of the conservative party around August and Wilhelm Vilmar, was one of 43 "recalcitrant" pastors who opposed the overall consistory founded in Kassel in 1873 and were therefore removed from their office.
