Emil Riis Jakobsen

Emil Riis Jakobsen (born June 24, 1998 ) is a Danish football player . The striker is under contract with Randers FC and is a young Danish national player.

Career

Emil Riis played until 2012 in the youth of Hobro IK , a club from the small town of Hobro in North Jutland , which at that time mostly played in the second and third division of Danish football. Then Riis played around 20 kilometers south in the youth teams of Randers FC , whose first team had just returned to the Danish first division after a year of absence . In the 2014/15 season, he scored 24 goals in 26 games for the U17 team in the East Jutes. He then went to England to the Derby County Youth Academy . From 2016 to the beginning of 2018 he completed 28 league appearances for the reserve team in the U23 Development League , the top English division for U23 teams, scoring seven goals, and he also made two short appearances in the EFL Trophy , a cup competition in which the Teams of the third and fourth highest English division as well as various U23 teams take part.

On January 11, 2018, Riis moved to the Netherlands on loan to the first division club VVV-Venlo . In Venlo he could not prevail and only played in three games. His contract with Derby County expired on June 30, 2018.

Riis then returned to Denmark and joined his former club Randers FC, where he was awarded a three-year contract. In the 2018/19 season , his first season in the top Danish league, he was used regularly, but was not always a regular player. During the season Riis also came to appearances in the reserve team. After 19 appearances in which he scored three goals and eighth place in the regular season , Randers FC qualified for Group 2 in the relegation round , in which the club competed as group winners for the qualifiers to participate in the play-offs UEFA Europa League qualified. Riis was used in all games and scored the 1-0 winner in the game against his youth club Hobro IK, who had already spent several years in the top division. In the play-offs, Randers FC reached the third and decisive round, but lost 4-2 at Brøndby IF .

In the 2019/20 season, Emil Riis was able to establish himself halfway in the team and is mostly in the starting line-up.

National team

For the Danish U16 national team Riis played six times and scored one goal. For the Danish U17 and for the Danish U19 he ran twice each. On January 12, 2020, he made his debut for the Danish U21 national team in a 3-1 win in Belek, Turkey against Slovakia.
