Emil Rudolf Greulich

Emil Rudolf Greulich (born October 6, 1909 in Berlin ; † August 31, 2005 ; mostly: ER Greulich , also: Erge [pseudonym]) was a German writer .

Life

Greulich, the son of a type founder , attended elementary school and learned the profession of typesetter from 1924 to 1928 . He joined the KPD in 1927 , held positions as a political and agitist leader and worked as a typesetter for the KPD newspaper Die Rote Fahne . In 1930 he went on a journey through Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Spain. After 1933 he did illegal work and was arrested by the Gestapo in 1939 . In 1940 he was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for preparation for high treason and in 1942 he was sent to the Penal Division 999 for military service. In Tunis he was taken prisoner by the Americans in 1943 and was brought to the USA, where he worked for the anti-fascist prisoner of war magazinePW. Semi-monthly journal of German prisoners of war ”collaborated.

Greulich returned to Germany in 1946 and became a member of the SED . He was first a proofreader, then an editor in East Berlin and was one of the founders of the German Press and German Writers' Association of the GDR , on whose legal commission he was active. From 1948 to 1949 he was director of the Berlin cabaret Frischer Wind . Since 1949 he was a freelance writer in East Berlin.

His estate is in the literary archive of the Berlin Academy of the Arts .
