Emil von Borries (full name Emil Julius Ludwig Wilhelm von Borries , born June 9, 1859 in Niederweis in the Eifel , † July 16, 1922 in Meersburg on Lake Constance ) was a German local historian and teacher.

Emil von Borries attended the Joachimsthalsche Gymnasium in Berlin and studied history, geography and classical philology at the universities of Berlin and Strasbourg from 1877 to 1881 . After graduation (1882) he worked in the Alsatian school service. He completed his probationary year at the grammar school in Metz and at the secondary school in Rappoltsweiler . At Easter 1883 he moved to the trade school in Mulhouse , in autumn 1884 to the new secondary school in Strasbourg, where he has been teaching ever since.

In Strasbourg von Borries dealt extensively with local history since ancient times. As a German patriot, in addition to local historical studies, he also presented program publications on Germanness in Alsace . After the end of the First World War , like all German citizens, he was expelled from Strasbourg. He spent his twilight years in Meersburg on Lake Constance .
