Emil von Marenzeller

Emil von Marenzeller (born August 16, 1845 in Vienna ; † December 6, 1918 there ) was an Austrian zoologist .

Live and act

Von Marenzeller studied medicine at the University of Vienna from 1863 to 1868 . There he obtained his doctorate in 1868. med. From 1869 he was assistant to the zoologist Ludwig Schmarda .

In 1873 he began working as an assistant in the kuk Hof-Naturalienkabinett , of which he became custodian in 1876. Until his retirement, von Marenzeller was the manager of the collections of the lower animals.

From 1896 Marenzeller worked as an honorary lecturer and associate professor for zoology at the Vienna University of Technology . Elected as a corresponding member of the Imperial Academy of Sciences in 1892, he was also a member of the Zoological-Botanical Society , its secretary from 1873 to 1881. In 1896 he was elected Vice President and honorary member.
