Emilia Bicchieri
Emilia Bicchieri , religious name (* 1238 in Vercelli , Piedmont ; † May 3, 1314 ibid) was an Italian Dominican , prioress , blessed and mystic .
Life
Emilia Bicchieri, daughter of aristocratic parents, decided at the age of 16 to become a religious in the Second Order of the Dominicans. Her father supported her vocation and bought an empty convent outside Vercelli. She made her profession at 19 and became prioress at 20. She gained fame in particular through her mystical visions , which often had the Eucharist as their subject.
The popular veneration of Emilia Bicchieri as a blessed was confirmed on July 19, 1769 by Pope Clement XIV . Her relics were brought to the Cathedral of Sant'Eusebio in Vercelli in 1811 . Their feast in the liturgy is May 3rd, in the Dominican Order May 4th.
