Emilie Bosshart

Emilie Bosshart (born June 25, 1897 in Pfungen ; † July 10, 1979 in Winterthur ) was a Swiss educator and author.

Life

Emilie Bosshart was born as the daughter of Eduard Bosshart , Cantonal Councilor and President of the District Court. Her mother was Lina Benz. She attended the industrial school in Winterthur and then acquired a primary school teacher certificate at the University of Zurich . She worked as a primary school teacher and private tutor in Cannes and from 1929 studied philosophy, pedagogy, curative education and ancient art at the University of Zurich. In 1934 she did her doctorate under Eberhard Grisebach . From 1934 to 1963 Bosshart worked as a teacher at the primary and secondary levels and from 1939 to 1963 was also a part-time teacher of pedagogy and psychology at the daughter's school in Zurich.

Emilie Bosshart published a lot of papers on fundamental and time-related pedagogical issues. With Emanuel Dejung , Lothar Kempter and Hans Stettbacher, she published the ten-volume edition for Pestalozzi's 200th birthday from 1944 to 1947 . She was active in the Democratic Party , to whose central executive she was elected in 1938. The political rights of women were of particular concern to her, especially in the Winterthur women's suffrage association, whose presidium was taken over by Bosshart, and she devoted herself to this goal in the Winterthur women's democratic group.
