Emilie of Oldenburg

Emilie Antonia von Oldenburg-Delmenhorst (born June 15, 1614 in Delmenhorst , † December 4, 1670 in Leutenberg ) was regent of the county of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt from 1646 to 1662 . In 1638 she married Count Ludwig Günther I von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt from the Schwarzburg family .

Life

Emilie was a daughter of Count Anton II of Oldenburg and his wife Sibylle Elisabeth, née von Braunschweig-Dannenberg.

She married Count Ludwig Günther I of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt on February 4, 1638. When her husband died in 1646, at the age of 32, she took over the government of the county as custodian of her son Albert Anton until 1662. The countess had her children brought up in the forms of religiosity shaped by the virtuous society . To this end, she appointed the writer Ahasverus Fritsch as court master, who eventually rose to become chancellor under the reign of her son.

From 1663 she lived at Koenitz Castle . Countess Emilie died on December 4, 1670 in the Friedensburg in Leutenberg.
