Emma Eleonore Meyer
Emma Eleonore Meyer (born August 20, 1859 in Flensburg ; † October 8, 1921 in Frederiksberg ) was a Danish painter and graphic artist.
Meyer was the daughter of Justice Council Fritz Meyer and Marie Frederikke (née Dalberg). She attended the drawing and painting school for women of Emilie Mundt and Marie Luplaus in Frederiksberg. She then learned landscape painting from Harald Foss and figure painting from Peder Severin Krøyer . She mainly painted landscape motifs from the Silkeborg area as well as flower pictures and individual portraits. From 1895 to 1896 she received a scholarship from the Academy of Fine Arts and in 1916 the Louise Ravn Hansen scholarship. In 1901 she won the Sødringske Prize. She taught at the Staatliche Kunstgewerbeschule Hamburg .
Meyer remained unmarried for life and was buried in the Solbjerg Park Cemetery (Solbjerg Parkkirkegård) in Frederiksberg. Her sister Jenny Sophie Meyer became a porcelain painter in the Royal Porcelain Factory in Copenhagen.
